Silage

Silage is a preserved feed made by fermenting fresh green fodder under airtight (oxygen-free) conditions. This process helps retain the nutritional value of the fodder for a long time and ensures a continuous supply of nutritious feed for animals, especially during dry seasons.

Due to low rainfall, a shortage of green fodder has developed, which has directly affected the dairy business. Earlier, farmers depended on dry fodder, but it could not last throughout the year. To solve this problem, Ranjit Deshmukh introduced the modern and scientific concept of “Silage.”

In silage production, green fodder is chopped and stored in airtight bunker structures. It is then fermented for about 45 days. After this process, the prepared silage can be used as nutritious animal feed throughout the year.
