Modern Dairy Farm
The Modern Dairy Farm (MDF) is a modern, scientific, and professional approach to dairy farming. It involves the management of cattle, feeding, housing, health care, milk production, and record keeping, all carried out with the help of modern technology.
This concept has been specially designed for the younger generation, with a focus on transforming them from mere milk producers into “dairy entrepreneurs.” With the support of modern technology and proper guidance, this business becomes more profitable and sustainable.
Open Farm
Mukt Sanchar Gotha is a modern and scientific dairy practice in which cows are not tied with chains and are allowed to move freely in the shed. This reduces stress, improves health, and increases milk production. It is a highly effective concept for making dairy farming more efficient, modern, and profitable.
Silage
Silage is a preserved feed made by fermenting fresh green fodder under airtight conditions. It retains nutrients for a long time and ensures a continuous supply of nutritious feed throughout the year. This modern method helps overcome fodder shortages caused by low rainfall, leading to higher milk production, better animal health, and reduced feeding costs.
Artificial Insemination
Genetics plays a very important role in improving milk production in dairy cows. By using Artificial Insemination (AI) with high genetic potential bulls, significant improvement in milk yield can be achieved in the next generation. For example, a cow producing 20 liters of milk can produce offspring with a capacity of 30 to 50 liters with proper genetic selection. This clearly shows how modern breeding techniques can greatly enhance dairy productivity.
Biogas
Modern biogas units in the Sangamner region use advanced anaerobic digestion technology to convert cattle dung and organic farm waste into clean biogas. These systems are compact, leak-proof, and easy to maintain, making them more efficient and cost-effective for farmers. The biogas produced is used as a clean cooking fuel, reducing dependence on LPG and firewood while ensuring proper utilization of farm waste.
Mission 50L
To strengthen and modernize the dairy sector in the future, special focus is being given to improving milk productivity. Systematic efforts are underway in this direction, and “Mission 50L” is a key initiative driving this vision. The main objective is to ensure every farmer’s cattle shed has high-yielding cows, aiming for a target of 50 liters of milk production per cow per day. To achieve this, emphasis is placed on high genetic potential, modern animal husbandry practices, balanced nutrition, and efficient farm management.
cow Anatomy
Under Mission 50L, the special workshop “Cow Anatomy – Understand the Cow, Increase Milk Production” was successfully conducted in Sangamner through the joint efforts of the Maharashtra Progressive Dairy Farmers Association (MPDFA) and the Progressive Dairy Farmers Association, Punjab (PDFA). The workshop focused on cow anatomy, the digestive system, balanced nutrition, animal health, and the scientific management practices required for higher milk production. Dairy farmers received valuable guidance on how proper health management, scientific feeding, and a better understanding of cow physiology can improve productivity and make dairy farming more profitable. The programme was graced by the special presence of Hon. Shri Balasahebji Thorat, along with the guidance of Shri Ranjit Deshmukh, Chairman of Sangamner Taluka Cooperative Milk Producers and Processing Union Ltd. and President of MPDFA, and Dr. Mukesh Sharma. Through such initiatives, Mission 50L aims to connect dairy farmers with modern science, practical knowledge, and professional management, helping them move from traditional milk production towards becoming capable and successful dairy entrepreneurs.
